Chequers Transport is a long established company which has served the community for over twenty-five years. We became aware that the need for wheelchair accessible transport was rapidly growing and those using such services were crying out for improvements and more choice. With the guidance of those confined to wheelchairs and with representatives from various hospital trusts, we spent a year developing an alternative transport service.

We can now proudly introduce our accessible cars. Our accessible fleet enables vehicles to carry a single wheelchair plus two passengers, or vehicles capable of carrying two wheelchairs plus four passengers – all which have already met with the approval of our early users! Each accessible car is fitted with a Satellite Navigation System, ensuring drivers are able to collect and deliver passengers promptly without the risk of losing time finding their way in unfamiliar areas.

Our vehicles are a distinct burgundy in colour. It is not obvious that one of the passengers may be disabled. There is fast, easy access for the wheelchair passenger. Passengers are not removed from their wheelchairs and they needn’t be manually handled which is a very popular point with our disabled clients. Furthermore, our wheelchair passengers are always facing forward and they can enjoy the company of friends, family members or support workers seated next to them.

The drivers of our accessible vehicles are fully trained, friendly individuals who have been carefully chosen for their caring qualities. Drivers identification badge is clearly displayed at all times.

We already provide transport services to many businesses, hospitals, trusts and local authorities, all delighted by our easy booking system (phone, fax or on-line) and our reliable service. Account facilities are available. Single journeys, cash or credit card bookings are also welcomed. Chequers Transport is always ready to serve the community.
